Garex garage doors are available in texture files

Garex and Lightbeans

Garex, a renowned manufacturer of garage doors in Quebec and Canada, has reached an important milestone: its collections are now available as texture files on the Lightbeans platform. Garex has now become the first garage door manufacturer to join this digital material library dedicated to building professionals.

We wanted our products to be accurately represented in 3D. With Lightbeans, we found a team that understands not only our needs, but also those of architects. We are proud of the result: our doors are faithfully reproduced, down to the details of the decorative glass.

Marc-André Ratté, Marketing Director at Garex

Collections for all types of projects

For over 30 years, Garex has been designing and manufacturing garage doors suitable for both residential and commercial buildings. Their range stands out for its variety of styles and finishes:

  • The contemporary door, with clean lines and modern finishes, is ideal for today's homes.
  • The classic door, which reinterprets traditional styles with elegance and refinement, is perfect for timeless homes.
  • The XL door, designed for large-scale architectural projects, offers generous dimensions and a strong visual presence.
  • The panoramic door (Full View), which plays with light and fits in equally well with high-end residential projects and commercial spaces seeking a signature effect.

Textures ready for import into 3D models

Thanks to Lightbeans' scanning technology, Garex garage doors can now be integrated into professionals' 3D models. These files are compatible with a wide range of software used in the industry, including SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Rhino, Enscape, V-Ray, and Lumion.

In practical terms, architects and designers will be able to visualize, test, and compare different Garex door options directly in their digital models, even before ordering a physical sample. This approach reduces lead times, improves decision-making, and allows for better communication of a project's vision to clients and partners.

To accurately represent decorative glass, Lightbeans has developed an opacity file specific to Garex garage doors. This file can be imported into 3D software to display the transparency of the glass.

This file allows the computer to understand which parts of the surface are transparent.

A strategic choice for Garex

Garex's decision to collaborate with Lightbeans is motivated by a clear desire to better connect the brand with the network of architects and designers in both the residential and commercial sectors. To support this initiative, the company recently hired an architectural representative dedicated to this market.

“3D textures offer us a new way to interact with professionals,” continues Marc-André Ratté. “They allow them to discover our products directly in their models. It's a way to make their job easier while ensuring that our collections are showcased accurately.”
